In seinem neuen Bestseller-Roman Meine russischen Nachbarn erzählt Kaminer neue Geschichten zu seinem Lieblingsthema: das Leben der Russen in Deutschland. Diesmal ist es eine Russen-WG, Kaminers Nachbarn Andrej und Sergej. Es geht ums Trompetenspielen am frühen Morgen – zur Freude der Nachbarn, um Besucher der WG, um das Kapern von Zeugen Jehovas, um Deutsch lernen anhand einer Hypnose-Kassette und um im Wodkarausch falschrum gestochene Tattoos. Wer Kaminers Werke bereits kennt, der weiss, dass diese Geschichten keineswegs platt sind, sondern vor Witz und Komik sprühen. Und es ist das, was Kaminer (der selbst in Moskau geboren ist und nun in Berlin lebt) am besten kann: Geschichten über seine Landsleute schreiben, die sich fern der Heimat in einem neuen Land zurechtfinden müssen, das doch so ganz anders tickt als sie es gewohnt sind. Zum Glück gibt es in diesem Fall Wladimir Kaminer, der die beiden Völker so charmant und komisch einander näher bringt.
Das Buch ist im August 2009 bei Manhattan erschienen (17,95 Euro), ebenso das Hörspiel (19,95 Euro), und seit September ist Meine russischen Nachbarn auch als eBook (15,99 Euro) erhältlich.
