Khaled Hosseini weiß, worüber er schreibt
Mit tadschikischen sowie persischen Wurzeln wird Khaled Hosseini 1965 im afghanischen Kabul geboren. Der Sohn eines Arztes ist das älteste Kind einer Familie, die zu seinen Kindheitszeiten auch im Iran beheimatet war. Mitte der siebziger Jahre, vor der sowjetischen Invasion, zog die Familie nach Frankreich, wo sein Vater in der Hauptstadt Paris eine Diplomatenstelle an der dort ansässigen afghanischen Botschaft annahm. Nachdem die Familie vier Jahre später wieder zurück in die Heimat reisen sollte, sich Afghanistan aber zu der Zeit im Krieg befand, kam man der Bitte nach, der Familie in den Vereinigten Staaten Asyl zu gewähren.
Noch heute lebt Khaled Hosseini in Kalifornien, wo er seine beiden bisher erschienen Hauptwerke „Drachenläufer“ und „Tausend strahlende Sonnen“ veröffentlichte. Erstgenannter wurde vor knapp drei Jahren verfilmt und war so auch auf den deutschen Kinoleinwänden zu begutachten. Genau wie der später erschienene Roman handelt es sich um eine Darstellung von zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen innerhalb des heutigen Afghanistans, die sich beim Autor meist auf eigene Erfahrungen begründen. Hosseini gilt heute als der Experte im Bereich Literatur aus und über Afghanistan, wodurch er bereits Millionen von Lesern für sich gewinnen konnte. Besonders die dramatische und gefühlvolle Untermalung des Geschehens sorgt dafür, dass die Werke des promovierten Arztes sich einer großen Fanbase erfreuen. Da das Thema Afghanistan nach wie vor im Fokus der Öffentlichkeit befindet, wird wohl auch der nächste Roman, an dem Hosseini momentan werkelt, ein großer Erfolg werden.
