Wenig Zeit, um viel zu verändern
Jedem Menschen ist garantiert schon einmal eine Art Deja Vú passiert. Dieser Augenblick erscheint einem dann wie etwas, das man bereits schon einmal erlebt hat. Es kann etwas ganz Banales sein, wie schlechte Milch, die man aus dem Kühlschrank nimmt und erst beim Kosten den Verfall bemerkt. Ebenso möglich ist es, in einer Bar zu stehen, die man vorher noch nie betreten hat und sie trotzdem in- und auswendig zu kennen scheint. Nicholas Quinn wird zu Beginn von „Die dreizehnte Stunde“ in eine vergleichbare Situation gebracht.
Es handelt sich hierbei nicht um eine schlechte Milch oder die angesprochene Bar, sondern um den Tod seiner Frau und den von 212 Passagieren eines Fluges, in dem sie eigentlich sitzen sollte. Wie aus heiterem Himmel ist sie ausgestiegen und hat so das Schicksal der anderen besiegelt. Nicholas hat das zum ersten Mal erlebt, doch als er im Verhörzimmer der Polizei eine goldene Uhr bekommt, ergibt sich ihm die Chance, die Vergangenheit und somit das zu verändern, von dem allein eher weiß. Zugegeben, es ist ein bisschen schwierig, das Werk zu verstehen, das war es aber auch bei „Deja Vú“, einem Kinofilm, in dem Denzel Washington in ein ähnliches Szenario gebracht wurde. Mit der Story liefert Autor Richard Doetsch auf jeden Fall die perfekte Grundlage für einen erfolgreichen Thriller.
